Personality:
To a person first meeting Austria, he comes across as a polite, reserved, aristocratic man who seems a bit detached and uncaring about the things around him. In reality though, he isn't really uncaring, he just prefers to keep a calm and controlled appearance while he truly does care for those around him.
He can be a bit oblivious about others' emotions though and with how to deal with and show his own at times. One emotion he does show fairly strongly though is his annoyance when his peers misbehave and disrupt him and his surroundings... he shows his annoyance and anger particularly strongly in regards to a certain Prussian whose presence he refuses to admit he actually enjoys.

+classical music
+keeping things tidy
+ballroom dancing

Dislikes:
-being bothered while playing music
-the outdoors
-getting into physical fights
-loud and disruptive behavior
Fears:
~those he cares about becoming injured for/because of him
~being unable to play his music any longer
~marine creatures
Strengths:
+Music
Music is extremely important to Austria and he uses his playing to more easily express emotions that he at times has trouble expressing in other ways. The piano is the instrument he feels most connected to and plays the most frequently, however he does play other instruments occasionally, such as the violin.
+Baking
Austria has a love for the finer things in life, and cakes and sweets are among them. He is quite talented at baking foods such as sachertorte and apfelstreudel.
+Well Mannered
Austria always attempts to remain polite and composed. He speaks very properly and is quite familiar with the expected behavior of the aristocratic class.
+Tidy
He is a creature of habit and likes to keep his surroundings and appearance neat and orderly. He is easily annoyed by any mess or clutter in his surroundings.
+Dancing
Because Austria has always enjoyed music and associating with the aristocratic class and thus attending formal events, he became quite good at ballroom dancing, particularly the Viennese Waltz and dances of that sort. He doesn't get the chance to dance terribly often, but when he does he is rather talented.
Weaknesses:
-Sense of Direction
He is very easily lost and even when he is given a map or detailed directions he frequently loses his way. Because of this he dislikes going out alone if he can help it.
-Clumsy
He attempts to hide this flaw behind his aristocratic mannerisms, however Austria is prone to being rather clumsy at times. He seems to be particularly prone to breaking dishes.
-Unobservant
Austria can be a bit unobservant at times, both about others' emotions and more general things, such as when he did not notice Italy's gender for quite a while even when the other was living in his house.
-Highly Critical
He expects a lot from those around him and holds them to a very high standard. He grows frustrated quite quickly when his peers don't behave in the manner he deems appropriate and he will at times dwell on and criticize even rather small flaws.
-Physical Strength
Austria is not one who would be described as physically strong. With his enjoyment of the more comfortable things in life such as playing his music, baking, staying indoors, etc. he does not get much in the way of strenuous physical activity.
History:
Prior to the formation of the Austria, the land that would become the country was inhabited by various Celtic tribes. After the Roman Empire fell, the area was invaded by multiple outside peoples. In 788AD Charlemagne conquered the region and also introduced Christianity. The first record of the use of the name Austria was in 966AD.
In the early middle ages Austria became a Duchy under the rule of Babenbergs. It was during the Babenberg period that a much larger portion of the country was settled and many towns were founded. After the Babenberg line died out, there were a number of decades where the state of the country was uncertain, however in 1278 Rudolph Hapsburg came to power. During the 13th through 15th centuries, the Hapsburg family ruled the country and acquired lands outside of their own, including the Netherlands, Spain, and Hungary.
In 1740 the War of the Austrian Succession broke out when France, Prussia, and Spain challenged Austria over the right of Maria Theresa to rule country. England and the Dutch Republic joined the war as an ally of Austria. Not long after this war ended, the Seven Years War began in 1756 where Prussia and Great Britain fought Austria, Russia, and France. Later, after a defeat in the Austro-Prussian war in 1866, Austria was forced from the German Confederation. Shortly afterwards, the Austro-Hungarian compromise was created and Austria became Austria-Hungary. The Austro-Hungarian empire lasted until the start of WW1 after Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated.
After the war, Austria became a republic, however during WW2 they were occupied by Germany and ceased to exist as an independent state. After the war was over, the country was divided into separately governed zones by the Allied forces. The Austrian government was recognized by the Allies in 1945, however it was not until 1955 that Austria was able to regain complete independence. It was at this time that Austria's Parliament declared permaneant neutrality.

He took a moment just to run the tips of his fingers across the smooth, cool surface of the keys, not applying enough pressure for them to sound. When he did begin to play, he did so without sheet music, closing his eyes and simply letting the notes fall from his fingertips. He had played most of the music he owned enough times to know it by heart anyway.
Some days he would be left to his solitude as he played, other days someone or another would walk in. If it was Hungary or Italy their company was pleasant enough as they would sit and quietly listen, appreciating the music and sometimes requesting a particular piece or two. Other times Prussia, France, or the like would enter and proceed to do whatever they could to draw his attention away from his music and onto themselves which annoyed Austria to no end.
Once he began playing he would frequently get lost in the music for hours, oftentimes forgetting to keep track of the time. On this particular day he played in solitude all afternoon, not even realizing he had played straight through dinner and into the late evening until the bell signaling curfew rang. Austria jumped slightly in surprise and glanced out the window and saw that the sun had already set. It was then that he realized that he still had work to do that was due the next day and he had yet to even begin...
